Sandfire is committed to safeguarding the environment and managing potential impacts on water, land and air quality. We are also committed to reducing our carbon footprint, protecting the diverse environments where we operate and engaging stakeholders on effective solutions to unique challenges in each jurisdiction where we are active.

Sandfire’s Environmental Policy addresses the key environmental risks our business faces. The policy states our commitment to responsible management and protection of the natural environment at all stages of the business from exploration through to closure and rehabilitation. The Environmental Policy is implemented through our Environment Management System which is embedded across our business.

Case Study: Seed collection for the nursery

Sandfire in collaboration with the Department of Forestry and Range Resources (DFFR) Ghanzi embarked on a seeds collection initiative for the nursery project on Friday the 21 August 2020. The Nursery project is a mine closure environmental management plan, which will ensure a sustainable habitat for indigenous flora from our Motheo Copper Mine site. A commitment to protecting the environment is central to the way we carry out our business. We are cognisant on the impact of our activities in the surrounding environment.
