The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for coordinating variety of installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks performed by certified Electricians, Trades Assistants, and/or other trades personnel.

Key Performance Areas

  • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
  • Maintaining all electrical systems relating in the processing plant and maintaining the integrity of the operating environment of all electrical equipment.
  • Coordinates routine electrical maintenance and schedules preventative maintenance assignments.
  • Orders and stocks parts and materials necessary for the proper maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Inspects worker's completed work and work in progress to ensure compliance with instructions and applicable company and government rules and regulations.
  • Tanks and detaches transformer cards; performs work involving the brazing of transformer connections.
  • Dismantles, repairs, aligns, and reassembles motors, meters, control circuits and similar devices.
  • Supervises the repair of electrical.
  • Conducts high voltage maintenance work on the power plant sub-stations and switch gear.
  • Coordinates electrical repair work with plant personnel to maintain uninterrupted service wherever possible.
  • Participates in training programs as required; recommends improvements in electrical maintenance procedures.
  • Trains employees in power plant electrical work and safety practices and procedures.
  • Maintains reports, time, and attendance report
  • Performs all work in accordance with safety regulations, company policy and OSHA standards.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong Electrical maintenance competencies in mining and/or extractive metallurgy environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of good Supervisory practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Organizational skills to keep track of many workers, schedules, and budgets all at once.
  • Considerable knowledge of relevant mechanical and electrical systems throughout the plant.

Behaviours/Personal Attributes

  • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
  • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.

Qualification & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • An experienced Electrical maintenance Supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in, preferably, processing plant maintenance.
  • Familiarity with the Botswana Mine Quarries Act Regulation
