This position is responsible for assisting the Mechanical Engineer in providing technical support to the processing plant and operations as well as providing engineering evaluation in the screening of potential projects and producing process designs for approved projects. 

Key Performance Areas

• Providing economic and engineering evaluating in the screening of potential projects
• Undertaking small engineering projects
• Gaining an understanding of the current inspection techniques and their limitations
• Understanding and evaluating new equipment degradation mechanisms and decide future repair scopes
• Improving reliability of the process plant is key using modern programs
• Evaluating equipment to ensure it is fit for service.
• Re-rating piping and equipment for potential increased production capacity
• Assist in purchasing replacement equipment where necessary
• Gaining an understanding of piping design and fabrication with support from the maintenance team
• Gaining an understanding of the various types of rotating equipment found in the processing plant.

Technical Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience using 3D CAD software and be able to produce 2D technical drawings, will be an added advantage
